Shake Shack Opens its first Rhode Island Location
PROVIDENCE, RI - Friday, March 15th- We are laying our roots in Rhode Island! Shake Shack® is thrilled to announce it will open the doors to its first Rhode Island location in Providence on Wednesday, March 20th at 11 a.m. The Shack will be located at 249 Thayer Street in the College Hill neighborhood, just moments away from Brown University and RISD.
Shake Shack is a critically acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs (no hormones or antibiotics – ever), fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle cut fries and more. In addition to the classics, the Thayer Street Shack will be spinning up a unique selection of frozen custard concretes:

In keeping with Shake Shack’s commitment to green architecture and eco-friendly construction, the Thayer Street Shack’s tabletops will be made by CounterEvolution using reclaimed bowling alley lanes; chairs will be designed by Uhuru using sustainable materials; and booths will be crafted by Staach using lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Providence, RI; In support of the Providence Children's Film Festival coming to the Avon Cinema and Wheeler, the Thayer Street Merchants, both retail and restaurants are offering extra perks to film festival volunteers and attendees. A volunteer only need to flash their volunteer badge and attendees can use their ticket stubs to received discounts up and down Thayer (see list below). Free Parking has been secured by the Thayer Street District
Management Authority (TSDMA) working with Brown University will also be offering free parking in Lot# 11 on Saturday & Sundays during the festival for both volunteers and attendees. Check with PCFF for parking details.

The Thayer Street District Management Authority (TSDMA) announces the completion of a district wide tree well & sidewalk improvement project in time for the Thayer Fall Artisan Festival. Dangerous sidewalks were removed and replaced with new level concrete. Tree wells were re-sized by block and lined with cobblestones to enhance the visual appeal of the district as well as to provide addition protection for the District's trees. In addition, three new trees were planted to replace damaged trees that had been removed years earlier. A bicycle repair station was also installed as part of this project on the Olive Street side of the Brown Bookstore. The total cost of the District Improvement Project was approx. $35,000. and fully funded by the Thayer Street District Management Authority.
