Thayer Street Announces Completion of District Wide Tree Well & Sidewalk Improvement Project9/18/2015
The Thayer Street District Management Authority (TSDMA) announces the completion of a district wide tree well & sidewalk improvement project in time for the Thayer Fall Artisan Festival. Dangerous sidewalks were removed and replaced with new level concrete. Tree wells were re-sized by block and lined with cobblestones to enhance the visual appeal of the district as well as to provide addition protection for the District's trees. In addition, three new trees were planted to replace damaged trees that had been removed years earlier. A bicycle repair station was also installed as part of this project on the Olive Street side of the Brown Bookstore. The total cost of the District Improvement Project was approx. $35,000. and fully funded by the Thayer Street District Management Authority.

The following is an updated summary of the roadway improvements proposed within the area of the Thayer Street and Brown University. The tentative schedule (weather dependent) is as follows: Please note, we have restricted the night work as follows in the permit. “You are hereby permitted to commence work at 1:00AM on Monday, August 18, 2014 on Thayer St. from Waterman St. to Cushing St. only. Work on Thayer St. from Cushing St. to Bowen St. will not be performed until after 7:00AM due to the higher concentration of residential dwellings. We also request that paving operations begin at Waterman St. and progress toward Bowen St. to minimize the noise in the residential area during overnight hours. Idling trucks shall be restricted to Thayer St. (Waterman St. to Cushing St.) and not be present on the residential side streets connecting to Thayer St. during the 1 AM to 7 AM time period.” We are trying to limit impacts to all parties and ask for your continued patience.
